What we learned.....
With just cardboard you can make a sifter. - Cecilia
We had lots of fun learning about science.  We learned about minerals, rocks and soil. - Jessica
We made sifters. - Maddox
A sifter separates the good soil and bad soil. - Lauren
We had 2 buckets of mud and one had leaves, branches and mud in it.  We had to put mud in our sifter to see if you could separate the bad stuff and just leave us with good mud.  Mine worked. -Katie
You could make the sifters with screen and most people used that to separate the dirt. - Ally
I learned about igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. - Kealan
We had to get information from books to learn about igneous and sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. - Eric C.
We used the mohs scale, steak, luster and all sorts of things to find different properties of minerals. - Mitchell
A lot of people crowded the table to look in the dictionary.  We can find information in a dictionary, computers, books and from people. - Khang, Heidi, Sam
We learned that rocks are made up of different minerals and some are shiny, some are just plain, some are shiny and plain. - Dante
Igneous rock is formed from lava out of a volcano. - Aden
Rocks forming layers that are squished together make sedimentary rock. - Ethan
We collected soil samples with our learning buddies and we learned that each sample was different. - Derek

Rocks, Minerals & Soil


Word Work





















Word work was our last element of the Daily 5 to learn about in order to implement the structure fully in the classroom.  I am so excited. - Mrs. Kosolowski
One of the activities that you can use to practice spelling your words is clay. - Cecilia & Eric C.
A must do is using your words in 7 silly sentences. - Jessica
A must do is writing your words in rainbow words. You can use pencil crayons. - Ally
A must do is that you have to put your words in alphabetical order. - Stacy
In the classroom you can use pipe cleaner to make your words. -Kaelan
We can use the laptop to practice your letters and you can use clay cutter. - Dante
Mrs. kosolowski got a laptop and she put on a website that you can practice your words on. - Rhian
Magnetic letters. - Sam
Stamps. - Jessica & Heidi
You can make your words out of necklace beads. - Khang & Lauren
But you don't get to keep the necklace. - Rhian

There are writing strips. - Cecilia
Your spelling test is every Friday unless we have no school on Friday, then it will be on Thursday. - Mrs. Kosolowski
You get new words every week.
